Information session on Grant Applications

SMU Office of Research – The Office of Research (ORe) held an information session on 20 January 2016 to provide faculty guidance on grant applications.

During the session, faculty members were given an overview of the grant calls available for the year, and got to understand the work that ORe does as well as the support that ORe provides to grant applicants. Specifically, ORe provided the details about MOE Academic Research Fund (AcRF) Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3, including the respective objectives, application timelines and funding quantum. With the MOE AcRF Tier 2 Grant Call opening on 4 February 2016, ORe also made a special focus on the Tier 2 Grant, going through the frequently asked questions and encouraging faculty to apply for the grant. The policies and processes of the SMU Institutional Review Board (IRB) were also shared to make aware the importance of IRB review and approval for research involving human participants.

The presentation slides for the session have been made available for download here (on Grant applications) and here (on IRB).

Faculty who are interested to apply for the MOE AcRF Tier 2 grant, please feel free to contact ORe at ore [at] smu.edu.sg for more details.
