Understanding Innovation and the Impact of Institutional Change in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the Emerging Market of China

Assistant Professor Kenneth Huang
Lee Kong Chian School of Business
Singapore Management University

Kenneth Huang, Assistant Professor of Strategic Management, was awarded the Sing Lun Fellowship for the period October 2010 to March 2012.

In his lecture, Kenneth provided an overview of the innovation landscape in China, followed by an elaboration of a new conceptual framework (jointly developed with the co-authors), to understand the differential impact of the IPR regime shift on these firms’ innovation strategies and behaviours. He shared his empirical analysis and findings, and discussed the implications for policymakers as well as strategies for both the Chinese and Western firms.
